Older terraces and semis often still have their original bathroom footprint, with a bath squeezed into a small room and limited space for a separate shower. Many post-war homes have bathrooms that have been updated once, decades ago, and are ready for a proper replacement. Staveley's history as an industrial town shaped the streets you see today. Rows of brick terraces were built for workers, and estates of semis followed in the 20th century. Many of these homes are now owned by families who have lived in them for decades and want a bathroom that suits their needs now, often swapping a bath for a shower or adapting the room for easier access. Being just a short drive from our Chesterfield base means Staveley is one of the areas we work in most often, from Middlecroft and Inkersall to Barrow Hill. Common issues ## Problems we seein Staveley homes ### Small, dated bathrooms Original bathroom layouts in many Staveley homes weren't designed for modern use. Re-planning can turn a cramped room into one that works for the whole household. ### Leaks under baths and trays Worn seals and old shower trays are a common source of water damage to floors and the ceilings beneath. ### Stepping over the bath For older residents, getting in and out of a bath can become difficult. A walk-in shower or level-access wet room can restore independence. ### Old fittings failing Taps, valves and toilet mechanisms that have been in place for many years tend to fail at awkward moments. Replacing them before they fail avoids bigger problems. ### Weather, water and older buildings Winter weather brings cold snaps, and homes in Staveley are no exception. Pipes in lofts, garages, outbuildings and on outside walls are the most at risk of freezing. Outside taps that can be isolated and drained from inside the house, and pipework that's properly fitted and protected, go a long way to avoiding burst pipes. In older buildings, water problems are often hidden. A slow leak from a worn bath seal can soak a timber floor for months before a stain shows on the ceiling below. In newer homes, compact en-suites and showers take heavy daily use, and seals and trays start to wear. In both cases, getting it checked early is almost always cheaper than repairing the damage later. When we strip out an old bathroom in Staveley, Scott will tell you exactly what he finds. If anything unforeseen turns up, we stop and discuss it with you before going ahead; so the fixed price you agreed stays the price you plan around. How it works ## Our process in Staveley - 01 ### Free quote visit Scott comes out to your home, measures up and talks through the layout with you. He'll tell you honestly what will work with the space, where the pipework can and can't go, and what will give you the best result for your budget. - 02 ### Fixed-price quote You receive a fixed price for the installation. That price doesn't creep up halfway through. If something unforeseen turns up once the old bathroom is stripped out, we stop and talk it through with you before any extra work goes ahead. - 03 ### Options and samples Once you've accepted the quote, Laura sends over options for you to choose from. Depending on your selections, a home visit with samples follows, for example flooring options or aqua panels, so you can see them in your own light before anything is ordered. - 04 ### Installation by the same team Scott carries out the work with the same trusted team he uses on every job. Laura keeps you updated on what's happening and when, and the space is left clean and tidy at the end of each day. - 05 ### Handover and guarantee Everything is checked and run before we leave. Your installation is backed by our 2-year workmanship guarantee, and manufacturer warranties apply to the products themselves. For smaller plumbing jobs in Staveley, taps, toilets, leaks, radiators and outside taps, the process is simpler: tell us what's wrong, Scott takes a look and explains the fix, and the work is charged at £80 per hour + VAT + parts, backed by the same 2-year workmanship guarantee.
